Building Financial Clarity Through Real Understanding

We started quentaviro in 2019 because we kept seeing the same pattern. Bright people with solid businesses struggling to make sense of their numbers. Not because the numbers were complicated, but because nobody had shown them how the pieces fit together.

How We Got Here

I spent twelve years working in corporate finance, building models for companies that already had entire teams dedicated to this stuff. Then I started consulting for smaller businesses and realized something odd. These were smart operators running successful ventures, but they were making major decisions based on gut feeling because their financial data was a mess.

The problem wasn't laziness or lack of intelligence. They'd tried learning from generic courses that taught theory without context. They'd hired consultants who built fancy models nobody could actually use. What they needed was someone to sit down and explain things in plain language, using their actual business as the example.

So that's what we do now. We teach financial modeling by helping you build models for your real business challenges. You learn the concepts because you're applying them immediately to scenarios you actually care about.

Our Teaching Philosophy

We've refined our approach over six years of working with businesses across different sectors. Here's what makes our method different from standard financial training.

Context Over Theory

Every concept we teach gets explained through real business situations. You'll learn about cash flow forecasting by building an actual forecast for your business, not by memorizing formulas from a textbook.

We've found people retain information three times longer when they understand why something matters in their specific context. Theory comes after you've seen the practical application.

Build While You Learn

Our programs run over several months because meaningful skill development takes time. You'll typically join us in autumn 2025 or early 2026, working through modules while applying each technique to your business immediately.

Each session introduces one new concept, you implement it during the week, we review your work together, and then move forward. No cramming fifty concepts into a weekend workshop.

Models You Can Maintain

The worst thing we could do is build you a complicated model that breaks the moment you try to update it. Instead, we teach you to create simple, robust structures you can modify yourself.

You'll understand how each piece connects, which means six months later when your business changes, you won't need to hire someone to adjust your forecasts.

Who's Actually Doing This Work

We're a small team. That's deliberate. Every person you work with has spent years building financial models professionally and knows how to explain complex topics without jargon.

Lead Financial Educator

Former finance director turned educator. Elspeth spent fifteen years building models for manufacturing companies before realizing she preferred teaching people to fish rather than selling them fish. Leads most of our program delivery and specializes in production cost modeling.

Dougal handles our more technical programs and works with businesses dealing with complex revenue structures. Background in SaaS finance means he's particularly good at subscription model forecasting and cohort analysis, though he'll tell you those terms sound fancier than they actually are.

What Matters To Us

Honest About Limitations

Financial models are tools for making better decisions. They don't predict the future, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. We teach you to build models that give you useful insights while acknowledging uncertainty.

Practical Over Perfect

A simple model you actually use beats a sophisticated one gathering dust. We'd rather help you build something imperfect that informs your decisions than create an elaborate spreadsheet you're afraid to touch.

Long-Term Capability

Our goal isn't creating dependency. We want you to finish a program with us and think, "Right, I can handle this myself now." If we've done our job properly, you'll know enough to manage most financial modeling needs internally.

See If We're A Good Fit

We work best with established businesses that have at least two years of trading history. If you're pre-revenue or just starting out, we're probably not the right choice yet. For everyone else, let's have a conversation about what you're trying to understand about your numbers.
